It is with pleasure to invite you to the 3rd IEEE International Symposium on Sensorless Control for Electrical Drives (SLED 2012), to be held on September 21-22, 2012 in Milwaukee, WI,

An international event on Sensorless Control of Electrical Drives (SLED) dates back to 2007 and for 3 years was held as Workshops in Msida (Malta), Varsow (Poland) and Barcelona (Spain). Due to popular demand, it was expanded into a Symposium, the first being held in Padova, Italy in 2010 and the second in Birmingham, United Kingdom in 2011.

As a Symposium, all accepted and presented papers will be published as proceedings, and will be included in the IEEE Xplore online.
SLED2012 will be held immediately after ECCE2012. The symposium will be held in beautiful Milwaukee, home to large industries including Johnson Controls, Rockwell Automation, GE Healthcare, Caterpillar Mining, Harley-Davidson, Miller-Coors, etc. Places to visit around Milwaukee include Milwaukee lake front, Miller Park, Milwaukee Art Museum, Harley Davidson Museum, Milwaukee Public Museum, Pabst Mansion, and many other locations. For more information see:

SLED provides a forum for international experts to present and discuss the latest developments in the field of Sensorless Control of Electrical Drives. In doing so, it allows all engineers from industry and academia to learn of the status, trends and applications in this exciting field. Particular attention is given to Induction, Synchronous PM and Reluctance machines, with the 5-session program spanning keynotes, regular and industrial papers.
Topic of interest include:

  • Machine model based algorithms for sensorless control
  • Signal injection based algorithms for sensorless control
  • Sensorless-control oriented design of electrical motors and drives
  • Applications and case studies: industrial, transport, domestic
  • Performance issues: stability, accuracy, parameter sensitivity, fault performance

The 2012 IEEE Rural Electric Power Conference is coming to Milwaukee!

The face of rural power distribution is rapidly changing. Engineers, consultants, technical and operations staff are under scrutiny to ensure that new mandates are met while ensuring safe, reliable, least-cost power is available. Join us in Milwaukee to discuss solutions to these challenges and much more!

This year’s conference has a solid line-up of presentations that are focused on practical aspects of rural power system engineering. Along with the presentations, we have a great representation of vendors and manufacturer exhibits as well as some excellent “Tag-A-Long” Seminars on the Wednesday following conference adjournment.

Breakfast and lunch meals are provided for attendees at no extra cost on Monday and Tuesday.

To register or get more information, check out our website and “Join us for a great conference April 15 – 17 in Milwaukee!”

The cut-off for early registration is March 19, so don’t delay!
